Indore has taken another bold step in youth empowerment and participatory governance! Under the visionary leadership of Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has launched the “Internship with Mayor” program — the first initiative of its kind in India.
Launched at the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya auditorium, this scheme offers students the chance to work directly with IMC for 40–45 days across 42 departments — gaining real-world insights into how our city is run.
“Practical knowledge is equally vital, and students gain that only in the field.”
— Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav
Hands-On Learning: Interns will be placed in departments like sanitation, finance, urban planning, and more.
Exclusive Recognition: A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion.
Nation’s First: IMC is the first municipal body in India to open such opportunities for students.
Collector Ilayaraja T. called the scheme “unmatched anywhere in the world.”
IDA President Jaipal Singh Chavda emphasized how experience builds confidence and success.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Renu Jain praised the perfect blend of theory and practice.
Municipal Commissioner Pratibha Pal urged students to share innovative ideas during their tenure.
This program isn’t just an internship — it’s a launchpad for future leaders, a chance to learn governance from the inside, and an opportunity for young citizens to directly contribute to Indore’s growth story.
