Indore, June 30, 2025 — In yet another pioneering achievement, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has launched India’s first Digital House Address Project, setting a new benchmark in smart governance and citizen convenience. The initiative, inaugurated in Ward 82 (Sudama Nagar), will assign every home a unique QR code-based metal plate linked to a GPS-enabled digital address.
When scanned with a smartphone, this QR code will instantly display the home’s exact location, providing a modern, precise, and integrated address system. The project is aligned with the Government of India’s Digipin (Digital Postal Index Number) database, ensuring compatibility and scalability nationwide.
The new system offers direct access to multiple municipal services:
Bill Payments: Citizens can pay property tax and water bills instantly.
Grievance Redressal: Lodge complaints and track resolution without visiting municipal offices.
Service Requests: Access forms and updates related to civic amenities.
In addition to these conveniences, the GPS integration will assist emergency services, e-commerce deliveries, and urban planning, making Indore more connected and efficient than ever before.
While the QR code can be scanned by anyone, sensitive personal information — such as resident names or contact details — will remain secure and accessible only to homeowners. This ensures transparency in service delivery while safeguarding privacy.
The pilot project in Sudama Nagar marks the first step in an ambitious plan to cover nearly 7 lakh properties across Indore. Once fully implemented, this system will revolutionize address management, making physical address confusion a thing of the past.
Speaking on the launch, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav said:
“With the Digital House Address Project, Indore takes a giant leap toward becoming a fully smart, service-ready city. This is not just about technology — it’s about making citizens’ lives easier, safer, and more connected.”
This bold initiative reinforces Indore’s position as a national leader in urban innovation, following its consistent recognition as India’s cleanest city and now as the first to embrace fully digitalized home addresses.
